The headquarters of the International Congress of Architecture and Urbanism is the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University, founded on April 21, 1966, it is a private institution of higher education created with the sponsorship of the Dominican University Foundation and in accordance with the provisions of the law. No. 273 dated June 27, 1966. Its name recognizes a great philologist, a summit figure of Latin American humanism: Pedro Henríquez Ureña. Therefore, promoting effective academic integration and human solidarity through education is honoring his memory.

In the academic area, UNPHU maintains a level of excellence that has earned national and international recognition and has allowed it to graduate more than 41,210 professionals at the technical, undergraduate and postgraduate levels .

The School of Architecture and Urban Planning began with the founding of the university and is part of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts together with the School of Design and the International School of Contemporary Music.
